If you can’t do pull ups, regress to recline ring rows.

If the weight causes poor form, go lighter and stop the set immediately.

Chapter 8

Ab & Core Workouts

Every workout, finish with some abdominal work. You can also perform 1 ab exercise every 10 minutes and scatter the ab work through your overall workout. Both options are good and I mix them up.

Below is a sample abdominal workout. I don’t like using the word “core” because truly, during training, your “core” is always involved. “Core” is a fad term thrown around and results do NOT come from fads and gimmicks.

Your entire mid line, ALL around your body is working to stabilize during all exercises, be it bodyweight training or with the various weights.

Every training session for my athletes includes ab work.

1A) Dip Bar Knee Raise x 12 (Hold body upright on dip bars, raise knees slowly)

1B) Russian twist x 20 each side

1C) V Ups x 12 - 20 reps

1D) Front & Side Planks x 30-60 seconds each
